Hello to all! RAGBRAI is around the corner and getting closer. If you weren't aware, we are officially in. We are good to go and ride with Lance. Right!!! Actually, I'm expecting that politics will be even more prominent this year since the presidential campaign began in Iowa immediately following the last presidential election. We've had a staggering amount of TV commercials already and the campaign pollsters have been calling weekly. I have heard speculation that some of the candidates may even ride a day. OK. Lots to cover so I'll hit it by subject. CHARTER We will be chartering with Lake Country Cyclists again this year. There is a website where you can download the form and waiver in either Word or PDF. Also, I have attached the Word document HERE, so you can do whatever suits you. This year's fee is $170 for the full enchilada, and $55 for "bags only" service for the full week. (Or bag service for $9 per day for the partial week riders that are not taking the bus out or back.) Please complete the charter application and return it to Grant with a check made out to Grant Lewis for the charter fees and the team fees. Please complete and forward no later than 25 May. The address is in the email.
TEAM FEES
Team fees are $60 for the full enchilada. That includes t-shirt, Friday night soiree prior to departure, bus beverages, and beverages for (we think) most of the week and some pizza at Benchwarmer's again on the Saturday of the last day of riding. There are other options this year, and I'll try not to confuse anyone.
If you are not able to be in Ankeny for the party at each end of the ride, then the fee is $40.
If you are at one or the other, or both parties, but don't want either alcoholic beverages, or sports drinks (Gatorade, Powerade, Propel, etc) then the fee is $45 which includes parties, and water or soda for the week. (Sports drinks are costing us as much as beer or more, in some cases.) If you are not attending parties AND you only drink soda/water during the week, then the fee is $35. Please find a category above that best describes what you intend to do. WEB SITE Exciting news! Terry Reynolds is da man! Terry has designed a website for Team SLAM and it is now getting off the ground. Add this to your list of bookmarks. Go there to see what Terry's got going on and provide him with feedback on what features the website should have, if you don't presently see it. Terry has loaded in pictures from some of last year's rides, so have a look at those to get you in the mood for filling out the charter application and writing the check to Grant. If you have other questions or comments, please contact us.
