George,

Grant will be working on history and I will make sure he gets all this information.... If anyone else has bits of history please send them to this site or Grant. We should have a good draft in a month or so.....

Terry: I just started working through the Team Slam Website. Very good. I do, however, have to correct part of the Team SLAM history. In 1982 Glenn Morse and I both worked for TWA. Glenn was a dedicated Wall Street Journal reader and one morning he walked into my office and said something to the effect that I was holding out on him. He got my attention then showed me the WSJ article on RAGBRAI. He knew I was from Iowa and we had done a few "capers" together so he asked me what this was all about. I said I did not know ( I had left Iowa in 1968 and RAGBRAI started in 1972) but that I knew who WOULD know. Grant Lewis is my brother-in-law(I am married to his sister) and I knew he was very active in the sports scene and could bring me up to date. I picked up the phone on the spot and called Grant and, sure enough, he filled me in on the ride. Glenn and I decided to do RAGBRAI in 1983. I borrowed a bike from my son's girlfriend for training and also borrowed Grant's son's bike for the ride. Glenn and I shared a "puptent" the first year. So that is the start of Team SLAM. As you know Glenn has not missed one since. I have missed 7. This was my 18th and Glenn's 25th. Hope this helps with the SLAM history. George Plager. PS: How does one add photos to the website? I have not figured that out yet. George
